Supporting Long-Term Systemic Change in Healthcare

Formed in 2001, the BHHS Legacy Foundation was established as a charitable nonprofit organization to support improved healthcare for Arizonans through funding nonprofit organizations, programs and projects that accomplish its mission and vision. To date, the Foundation has committed over $30 million to increase access to healthcare and improve health outcomes for high-risk, underserved and uninsured populations. BHHS Legacy Foundation's service priority area includes the greater central and western metropolitan Phoenix and the Tri-State region.

The Foundation grants support community-based improvements in health, including increased access, education/prevention initiatives and health-related community strengthening efforts. The Foundation also collaborates with other key community stakeholders to support systemic change in healthcare in Arizona, including expansion of the state's healthcare professional workforce by funding high school career and technical education programs and college scholarships.

In addition, through matching community contributions made to Legacy Connection, the fundraising, nonprofit affiliate of BHHS Legacy Foundation - we support community-based programs such as the Legacy Backpack Buddies Project, which supports back-to-school readiness for children of low-income families.
